Comment Ubuntu connaît-il la marque et le modèle de mon ordinateur portable?

Je viens d'installer 15.04 sur mon nouvel ordinateur portable, et l'installateur a suggéré un nom d'ordinateur de carl-lenovo-g710 .

L'ordinateur portable est en effet un Lenovo G710, mais comment l'installateur le savait-il?

J'ai essayé sudo lshw | grep -i product , ce qui a donné:

Le programme d'installation d'Ubuntu s'appelle ubiquity . Le changelog de l’ubiquité 2.3.18 mentionne

"Use dmidecode to get a more unique suffix for the hostname (LP: #628087)."

dmidecode affiche toutes les informations sur votre système. Jetez un coup d'oeil en utilisant la commande:

sudo dmidecode | grep -A 9 "System Information"
